Evasi0n Jailbreak for iOS 6.0 and 6.1

Since the release of a jailbreak capability for iOS 6.0 and 6.1 are already seven million iPhone, iPad and iPod touch with it cracked. Includes 5 million iPhones, 1 million iPads and 400,000 iPod touch devices.  The jailbreak called Evasi0n, appeared last Monday and is the first publicly available hack for the iPhone 5 and iPad Mini. Jay Freeman, founder of the cracked Cydia App Store for iOS devices, confirms the popularity of the jailbreak.

By jailbreaking the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch are features available that are normally not possible in iOS, like installing apps that are not in the official Apple App Store.

Jailbreak for iOS 6 took longer

The cracking of iOS 6 took a lot longer than previous versions of the operation system. The jailbreak appeared 136 days after the release of iOS 6, compared with 98 days for iOS 5, 38 days for iOS 4 and 14 days for iOS 3.

''That’s what made this such a landmark jailbreak'', said Jay Freeman. ''It had been so long and we were all so hungry for it.''

The hackers who released Jailbreak for iOS 6, calling themselves the 'evad3rs', they say they have a number of undetected bugs in iOS kept behind, so that next versions of Apple iOS also can be cracked.
