WhatsApp gets an update soon, including an immediate payment model is introduced for new users (not for current user). The screenshots show that it is version 2.9.8.9370, while the current version in the App Store is 2.8.7. In the next version it is possible to change your phone number, where you immediately bring your new number back to your account info, groups and settings. On the screen "Payment Information" you see which phone is registered and how long the subscription lasts.

WhatsApp CEO Jan Koum has already confirmed that there is an annual subscription for new users, which costs $ 0.99 per annum. If you go for a 3 or 5 year subscription you get a discount. A date for the launch has not been announced, but given the fact that there are already screenshots of the beta version with the payment function, may mean that within a few weeks going to cost money.

There are also rumors that WhatsApp stops with supporting Apple iPhone 3G. WhatsApp has an agreement with the Korean game maker WeMade. So it is possible to play games through WhatsApp. That step seems especially designed for the Asian market, where competitors such as Line (market leader in Japan) and Kakaotalk offer games that you can play with your chat friends. Nothing new, of course, because it was already possible with MSN Messenger.
