iOS 8 beta 5The latest iOS 8 beta, the iOS8 beta 5 was introduced by Apple on the 4th of August. The new beta of Apple has come with new features. It makes the iOS run more smoothly than the betas 1, 2, 3 and 4 and in this article; we will look at each feature and what it does. On the other hand, there are some few hiccups that you will encounter when using the iOS 8 beta 5 but that’s totally understandable because it is still in testing phase.
One of the most notable problems is the exceedingly slow speed the QuickType (ha!) is. Every now and then you have to wait for it so as to continue tying but despite this, we are high on hopes that this will change with time. On a positive note, the battery life is improved and better.
Let's have a look at the five new features in the new iOS 8 beta 5.
SMS RelayThere is a new feature that is known as SMS relay. This new feature now lets you get a popup that asks you as a user whether you want to use your phone numbers for SMS Relay on your MacBooks that run OS X Yosemite. On simple terms, this will now allow the user to take delivery of text messages from users who use Android by means of the Messages app on OSX. In the past, the only messages that could come through the app are only iMessages which only iPad and iPhone users have.
Settings AppiOS8 beta 5 has been added a number of small alterations to the settings app. These changes point to the incorporation of several iCloud related apps; some of these apps consist of Drive, Backup and Keychain. A blue cloud is visible on a white background when it comes to the display of icons of the apps that are iCloud related.
Photo App: "Last Updated" NotificationAt this time, a Last Updated notification can be seen in the Photo app. This will now let users know the last time the images were synced to the iCloud. This new feature also allows you to download and save images in iCloud that are original full-resolution.
Predictive Text ToggleThere is now an existing new toggle in keyboard settings that lets you to either turn predictive text on or off.
Health App: Spirometry SupportFinally, users get a feature that they have been calling for, which includes the Spirometry data support. For those who don’t understand, Spirometry means measurement of breathing so you can now be able to know the amount of air you are inhaling or exhaling. This is a feature that will come in hand for medical professionals
ConclusionThere you have it, these are some of the features that I have noted and liked in the iOS 8 beta 5. If there are any that I have left out, be sure to share and tell us what you think by commenting below.
